The Spartans host the 15th Annual Royal Coach Tours Gold Rush Showcase, February 3rd-5th at Sharks Ice at San Jose. The team will face-off against three hungry West Region teams all looking to secure their ticket to the ACHA West Regional Playoff in Logan, UT.
Thursday at 8:15pm, the Spartans will square off with the #13 Northern Colorado Bears (4-16-1 record this season). The teams met three times last season, all in Colorado, with the Spartans winning 2 of 3, including a dramatic 4-3 (OT) win at the Regional Playoff which propelled the Spartans to the 2010 National Tournament. Also Thursday, catch the SDSU Aztecs’ tilt against the A&M; Aggies at 9:45pm on the South Rink.

Friday at 7:45pm, the Spartans will face the #7 San Diego State Aztecs (14-11-4 record this season). In their only meeting thus far in 2010-11, SDSU defeated SJSU 3-1 in San Diego, CA in October. SJSU will look to duplicate last year’s success in the Gold Rush Showcase when they thrashed the Aztecs 8-2. Also Friday, catch the A&M; Aggies’ tilt against the UNC Bears at 9:45pm on the South Rink.
Saturday at 7:00pm, the Spartans will finish off the showcase by facing the #8 Texas A&M; Aggies (20-8-0 record this season). SJSU won the teams’ only game last season 5-3 in San Jose, CA as SJSU captured the 2010 Gold Rush Showcase title. Also Saturday, catch the SDSU Aztecs’ tilt against the UNC Bears immediately following the SJSU/A&M; contest.
