ANDY DICKERSON

PRESIDENT – ANDY DICKERSON
Entering his fourth season as Team President, Andy is under pressure to perform both on the ice and off! Among his duties are scheduling practices and games for the season, staying in constant contact with other teams’ representatives, securing coaching and insurance for the team, and ensuring that the team is always in compliance with ACHA and USA Hockey regulations.

Andy is #39 on the ice.

JEFF MALAVE

VICE-PRESIDENT – JEFF MALAVE
Jeff is entering his second season in the challenging role of Vice President and is responsible both for his own duties as well as assuming the President’s responsibilities in his absence. Jeff is responsible for a variety of game-day tasks, including: securing volunteers, renting and transporting game entertainment equipment, scheduling intermission entertainment, and scheduling theme nights and promotional giveaways. He also handles the printing of the team’s annual media guide and assists the Communications Officer in organizing promotional and community service activities.


 STEVEN STICHLER

TREASURER – STEVEN STICHLER
Steve Stichler is entering his fourth season as Treasurer and is responsible for managing one of the team’s most important assets: its money! Among Steve’s duties are scheduling travel arrangements for the team, keeping detailed records of all revenues and expenses, and ensuring the team adheres to a strict budget. Steve also handles all financial communications as they relate to the IRS and state and local governments.

JEFF SAWHILL

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – JEFF SAWHILL
Jeff is entering his second season as Communications Officer and acts as the face and the voice of the Spartans. Through his efforts, the U.S.S. Spartan is able to keep and expand its reputation of being the Loudest Barn in the West! Jeff is responsible for promoting the SJSU Spartan Hockey program in the local community through various types of media and coordinating all team fundraising and community service involvement.

 JAMES LOPEZ

SAFETY OFFICER – JAMES LOPEZ
James is entering his first season as the team’s safety officer. James is required to be CPR and First Aid certified and knowledgeable when an accident or injury occurs. He is also responsible for handling all waivers and health/medical information for the team, and as team trip leader he is responsible for making sure the team abides by all Club Sports rules and regulations while traveling.

James is #88 on the ice.

KRISTIN APPLETON

GENERAL MANAGER – KRISTIN APPLETON
Kris returns for her 6th year as SJSU Hockey’s General Manager. Entering her 12th season overall with the team, Kris has faithfully volunteered her precious time since 1999, fulfilling almost every administrative job thinkable from penalty box attendant to score- and timekeeper to Director of Game Operations.

As General Manager, Kris is responsible for working with the officers, coaches, volunteers, and other staff members to ensure that the club is organized and its administrative needs are fulfilled. She also assists the team with its travel arrangements, helps secure and maintain a positive relationship with the team’s sponsors, and ensures that all players are eligible and matriculating towards graduation.

Kristin is originally from South San Francisco and moved to San Jose in 1999 to attend San Jose State University. She graduated in 2003 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice/B.A. in Psychology and again in 2004 with her M.S. in Criminal Justice.

JANELLE ZALINSKI

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS – JANELLE ZALINSKI
A longtime fan of the team, Janelle enters her second season as a member the team’s staff. As Director of Public Relations, she oversees the work of the Communications Officer and is responsible for coordinating publicly between the team and outside entities/agencies, helping develop and promote team fundraising opportunities, and improving the team’s visibility in the community through public service and/or volunteer activities.

Janelle spent her childhood in Gustine, CA and Morgan Hill, CA and attended Arizona State University for one year before transferring to San Jose State University in 2004. She graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in English.

An alumna of the Delta Zeta Sorority and former President of the National Panhellenic Conference Council at San Jose State, Janelle hopes her strong ties to the local Greek community and her experience in coordinating fundraising and philanthropy activities will help the team become more financially stable and gain greater recognition around the Bay Area.

 SIMON GUERTIN

DIRECTOR OF GAME OPERATIONS – SIMON GUERTIN
After playing on the team for parts of the 3 of the past 4 seasons, Simon enters his first season as a member of the team’s staff. As Director of Game Operations, Simon is responsible for the following during each home weekend: helping secure volunteers (admissions & merchandise table attendants, security guards, score/timekeepers, penalty-box attendants, DJ, announcer, anthem singers, videographers, and radio broadcasters), attending to the needs of spectators to maximize their viewing experience, making sure the needs of visiting teams are fulfilled, and coordinating pre-scheduled intermission entertainment and promotional giveaways.

Simon is originially from Montreal, Quebec. His family moved to the Bay Area during his youth and he played for the Santa Clara Blackhawks’ organization before attending San Jose State. Simon plans to graduate this spring with his BA in Hospitality Management.
