DESCRIPTION

The San Jose State Spartan Hockey Team is proud to have been selected as hosts of the 2012 West Regional Playoff, which will be held from
February 25-26, 2012 at Sharks Ice at Fremont.
The Regional Playoff was instituted before the 2005-06 season and the SJSU Hockey Team had the distinction of hosting the first ever West
Regional Playoff in San Jose in 2006. The team is honored to once again host the event, which will feature 8 of the top 10 teams in the West
Region battling for the final 2 berths to the 2012 ACHA National Tournament, which will be held in Fort Meyers, FL from March 13-17, 2012.

EVENT FORMAT
|
Periodically throughout the season teams from each of the four ACHA regions (Northeast, Southeast, Central, and West) are ranked from highest to lowest. At the conclusion of the 5th ranking period on February 11, 2012, The top 10 teams in each region advance to post-season play. Teams ranked 1st or 2nd in their respective regions receive an automatic bid to compete at the National Tournament in March. Teams ranked 3rd-10th must meet in an eight-team, single-elimination Regional Playoff to determine their region's final two National Tournament representatives.
